Burning Love
(D.Linde)
Lord almighty,
I feel my temperature rising
Higher higher
Its burning through to my soul
Girl, girl, girl
You gonna set me on fire
My brain is flaming
I don't know which way to go
Your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
Ooh, ooh, ooh,
I feel my temperature rising
Help me, I'm flaming
I must be a hundred and nine
Burning, burning, burning
And nothing can cool me
I just might turn into smoke
But I feel fine
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like a sweet song of a choir
And you light my morning sky
With burning love
Its coming closer
The flames are reaching my body
Please wont you help me
I feel like I'm slipping away
Its hard to breath
And my chest is a-heaving
Lord almighty,
I'm burning a hole where I lay
Cause your kisses lift me higher
Like the sweet song of a choir
You light my morning sky
With burning love
With burning love
Ah, ah, burning love
I'm just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Just a hunk, a hunk of burning love
Lyrics to Burning Love
"Burning Love" was written in 1971 by Dennis Linde (born March 18, 1943, died December 22, 2006), a successful country music songwriter. Although this proved to be Linde's most well-known song, he later wrote songs for many country music artists including Garth Brooks. He also wrote the Dixie Chicks' mega-smash "Goodbye Earl" in 2000.
Elvis Presley recorded "Burning Love" on March 28, 1972, at RCA's Hollywood Studios. During the month of October in 1972, "Burning Love" stayed at number #2 on the Billboard Pop charts for 2 weeks. Surprisingly, Elvis balked at recording this song because he wanted to concentrate on more ballad-type songs. In the end, he gave us another great pop song and he showed everyone he was still "The King Of Rock & Roll".
